Finding Your Makeup Artist Beauty Style

Updated: Mar 27, 2019

I have always been an advocate of learning while doing. Many times when I set out to accomplish a goal, I did not prepare a strategic plan. I would just decide to do something and believe that I could.

Many years ago, I attended a makeup conference in Washington, DC that hosted an airbrush makeup session. We all just watched on, amazed as if someting otherwordly was happening before our eyes while the teacher demonstrated on the model. I was fascinated but also irritated becase the session was not hands on. I thought well this is great but I want to know how to use it NOW, while this is fresh in my mind!

Don't be rude and ask my age, but YES this was way before there were hundreds of online how to videos or hands on seminars nearby to teach me how to use the system. Fortunately for me I was in the front row and I asked, "how do you use the gun"? The teacher said "oh its easy" and put the airbrush gun in my hand and showed me in 8 seconds. After the conference, I went home and bought a $300 airbrush system online. While I waited for delivery I asked (maybe slightly harassed to death) a gazillion questions to many seasoned pros like David Klasper, founder of OCC Cosmetics and Emmy Award Winning Makeup Artist & Beauty Influencer Kevin James Bennett , all about airbrushing for Makeup Artist. These successful working artists freely shared as much as I could handle. When the airbrush system was delivered, I practiced all day and by night I had created a page, content, and SEO as a 'Airbrush Makeup Artist' in my area. The following week, I was contacted for a bridal job and the rest is history as they say. I had found my niche before I knew what niche meant.

Now you might think that my ‘decide and do’ method is risky but I assure you that the biggest risk are the ones we don't take. Trust me, I've taken many risks and experienced both wins and loses, but if I can help at least one person through the process of reaching their goals, it will make it all worthwhile.

What have you been thinking about doing but are still stuck in decision mode? Tell me, maybe I can help.
